My research uses an integrative approach to study evolutionary change and plastic responses to varying intensities of environmental stressors. I consider population differences in behavior, hormone levels, and gene expression of reproductive females, and am particularly interested in the impact of evolved and plastic maternal responses on the development of offspring.
I take advantage of the astounding variation seen among freshwater threespine stickleback fish populations to study evolutionary processes in a natural system.
